The lead vessel of the Aframax-class tanker series was laid down on the Zvezda slipway in September last year. The construction of Aframaks allows Zvezda to master modern technologies for creating large-tonnage vessels. Aframax tankers will be the first vessels of this type built in the Russian Federation.
The Aframax tanker series includes 12 vessels; the manufacture and assembly of sections of the first two vessels is currently underway in the workshops and on the company's slipway. The delivery of the first tanker is scheduled for next year.
The most modern shipyard in Russia is equipped with advanced equipment that allows the use of high-precision methods of marking, welding and cutting metal, including laser, as well as 3D modeling.
Green Aframaks are designed to transport crude oil and petroleum products in an unlimited navigation area. The vessel is designed to meet high environmental standards: the main and auxiliary power plants can run on environmentally friendly fuel, liquefied natural gas. The length of the future tanker is 250 meters, width is 44 meters, deadweight is 114 thousand tons. There is a helicopter landing area on the vessel.
The metal cutting ceremony was attended by representatives of the customer Rosnefteflot and the State Transport Leasing Company, as well as the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and the Zvezda labor collective of the SSK".
