On May 3, the "Emperium" shipyard in the Leningrad region launched the new electric catamaran "Ekohod 2." The vessel was built based on the company's own design, commissioned by "Vodohod. Passenger Port." The electric catamaran will soon depart for Nizhny Novgorod, where it will begin operating on sightseeing routes during the current navigation season.
The length of the electric catamaran is 31 meters, with a width of 10.3 meters and a passenger capacity of 130 people. The hull is made of aluminum, ensuring a lighter weight and enhanced maneuverability.
As noted by Andrey Gurlenov, Executive Director of Sitronics Electro, electric vessels represent an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional passenger boats. "Electric ships offer a more comfortable and eco-friendly solution for sightseeing routes, as they produce no noise or emissions, which is particularly important for urban operations. They are also more economical to maintain," he explained.
It is worth recalling that the first catamaran, "Ekohod," was built for "Vodohod" and delivered to Krasnoyarsk in the fall of 2022, where it now operates using electric propulsion.
