Rescuers from the Sakhalin branch of FSUE "Morspasluzhba" successfully resolved an emergency situation involving the bulk carrier KC Hadong (flag of Liberia), which ran aground in the stormy weather in the Tatar Strait on the evening of April 21. The details of the operation were reported by Rosmorrechflot on April 28.
The incident occurred when the ship, with a crew of 20 sailors from South Korea and the Philippines, was preparing to load coal 3 km from the shoreline. The vessel was carrying 50 tons of diesel fuel and 700 tons of fuel oil.
Upon receiving the distress signal, rescuers equipped with absorbent materials and tools proceeded to the site of the accident by service vehicles. Simultaneously, the MFAAS "Bering Strait" departed from Korsakov seaport to assist the stranded vessel, with an emergency party, LARN equipment, and a diving station on board. A constant rescue team was organized on the shore to prevent and respond to potential oil spills.
The shore-based emergency party conducted continuous monitoring of the area using drones, checked the depths and the vessel's draft, and surveyed the shoreline by boat. On the evening of April 26, the bulk carrier was successfully refloated by the emergency team and the MFAAS "Bering Strait."
After the bulk carrier was refloated, it was towed to a safe anchorage. Tugboats "Shakhtersk-5," "Shakhtersk-2," "Priboy," and "Viktor Olenich" were involved in ensuring the vessel's course and safe passage through confined port conditions. Continuous monitoring of the surrounding waters was carried out, but no pollution was detected in the area, as reported by Rosmorrechflot.
