Rosmorflot has resumed the publication of cargo turnover data for Russian seaports. As reported on August 11, in the period from January to July 2022, the turnover decreased by 0.2% compared to the same period last year, totaling 482.0 million tons. Specifically, the transshipment of dry cargo fell by 5.1% to 225.8 million tons, while the transshipment of liquid cargo increased by 4.5%, reaching 256.2 million tons.
According to the agency, the cargo turnover of seaports in the Arctic Basin grew by 3.3%, amounting to 56.5 million tons. In the Baltic Basin, it dropped slightly by 0.6%, reaching 143.6 million tons. The turnover in the Azov-Black Sea Basin increased by 0.3%, totaling 147.6 million tons.
However, the cargo turnover of seaports in the Caspian Basin continued to decline, dropping by 27.5% compared to the previous year, amounting to 3.1 million tons. The cargo turnover of the Far Eastern Basin decreased by 0.9%, reaching 131.2 million tons.
The results of cargo handling in Russian seaports for the first seven months confirm the conclusions of the International Energy Agency regarding the recovery of oil production and, consequently, oil supplies to the global economy, Rosmorflot adds.
It should be noted that since April 2022, Rosmorflot had suspended the publication of the statistics due to "additional potential risks."
