On the eve of the Navy Day, St. Petersburg hosts a variety of events dedicated to the history and achievements of military shipbuilding. This year, one of the highlights is the exhibition of ship and submarine models titled "If There Are Shipbuilders – There Will Be Ships," organized by the Saint Petersburg State Maritime Technical University (SPbGMTU).
At the "SreDA!" public space, visitors can view models of surface ships and submarines of different generations, created by students from the "Korableka" program. The displayed models represent projects that have been developed by talented students and engineers.
The exhibition showcases iconic vessels, including the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser of project 1144 "Orlan", the destroyer of project 956 "Sarych", the small missile ship of project 21631 "Buyan-M", the missile boat of project 12411, and the heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser of project 1143.5.
Among the submarines, models on display include the nuclear-powered submarine with cruise missiles of project 675, the nuclear-powered submarine of project 971, the multipurpose nuclear submarine of project 885 "Yasen", the heavy nuclear-powered strategic missile submarine of project 941 "Akula", the submarine of project 677 "Lada", and the submarine of project 636 "Varshavyanka".
Also featured is a model of the self-propelled floating crane of project 02690, which broadens the understanding of the diversity of maritime technology.
The exhibition is complemented by a multimedia display that showcases the history of SPbGMTU and its contribution to the development of domestic shipbuilding. This is not only an educational but also an inspiring experience for future engineers.
The exhibition is open to visitors daily until July 31, with free entry. The "SreDA!" public space is located at: Konnogvardeysky Boulevard, 4, within walking distance from the central area of the Main Naval Parade.
