On August 21, 2020, the main ferry of the CNF19M Marshal Rokossovsky project was launched at the Kuzey Star shipyard in Turkey. This is stated in the message of the project developer, the Marine Engineering Bureau company.
The vessel, which is being built by Nevsky SSZ in cooperation with a Turkish shipyard, was laid down on October 17, 2018. The first production ferry General Chernyakhovsky was laid down on April 23, 2019.
The contract for the construction of two railway ferries for the Ust-Luga-Baltiysk line was signed between Nevsky SSZ and FSUE Rosmorport in December 2018. The new vessels should replace the outdated ferries currently operating in the Baltic.
The CNF19M ferry is 199.9 m long, 27.4 m wide, and 6 m deep. A special feature of the vessel is a dual-fuel power plant capable of running on LNG and diesel fuel.
