The flagship icebreaker was named "Russia". The vessel will become the most powerful nuclear-powered vessel in the history of world shipbuilding. This technically challenging project has no analogues in the world. Its key task is to ensure year-round transportation of the commercial fleet along the Northern Sea Route. "The leader" will become the basis of the Russian icebreaking fleet of the new generation. 

The nuclear icebreaker Leader will be built according to the technical design of the Iceberg Central Design Bureau. The RITM-400 nuclear power plant will be installed on the vessel. It was developed by the enterprise of the Rosatom State Corporation, JSC Afrikantov Design Bureau.
