On June 16, on the 91st anniversary of the International Children's Center "Artek", the reconstructed motor ship "Artek" was handed over to the camp management.

It arrived from Sevastopol on the eve of the summer shift. A pleasure sea vessel of project 14301, with a displacement of 150 tons, was built in 1989. The repairs were carried out by the Severodvinsk Ship Repair Center "Zvezdochka". Specialists cleaned the hull of "Artek" and repaired it with the replacement of individual sheets of the casing, and painted it. The units of the propeller-rudder group, outboard fittings were repaired or replaced, all ship systems were restored, including most of the cable routes and electrical equipment.

Artek also received new main and auxiliary engines, modern navigation and radio equipment. After careful design work, the passenger cabins and the passenger upper deck were renovated - Sevastopol shipbuilders installed new seats and furniture there, as a result of which not only comfort increased, but also the passenger capacity of the vessel increased to 219 people.

The glazing of the cabins and the wheelhouse was re-done. A strong awning was stretched over the passenger deck, and Artek logos were placed on the sides of the ship. During the ship's modernization, special attention was paid to life-saving equipment. High-quality life rafts and other necessary equipment were purchased for the ship, the Artek press service reported.
