The Astrakhan plant "Lotus" (part of USC) has completed the preparatory stage of construction of the first river cruise liner of the PV300VD project in the last 60 years, and work has begun on forming the ship's hull on the slipway. 12 sections with a total weight of 350 tons are in production.
Since the laying of the PV300VD, a large amount of preparatory and organizational work has been completed at the plant. Potential suppliers of the main equipment have been identified. Tender procedures are being carried out in accordance with USC requirements. 65% of rolled steel products have been shipped to the plant, and the remaining 35% are planned to be delivered by the end of February.
The ceremonial laying of the bottom section of the PV300VD project cruise passenger ship took place on August 15, 2016 at the Lotus shipyard. The construction of the ship was launched via video link by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was holding a meeting of the State Council Presidium in Volgograd at that time on the development of Russia's inland waterways. Ships of this class have not been built in Russia for over 60 years. The customer of the four-deck liner, 141 m long, 16.5 m wide, with a capacity of over 300 passengers, is the Moscow River Shipping Company. Completion of the first passenger ship is scheduled for April 2019.
