Yantar Lays Down Rescue Vessel Voevoda

The keel-laying ceremony for the Project 23700 emergency rescue support vessel Voevoda took place today at the Yantar Baltic Shipyard (PSZ) in Kaliningrad.

This is the lead vessel of Project 23700, developed by JSC Severnoye Design Bureau, and is being built by order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation under a contract concluded in December 2016. The vessel is to be delivered to the customer in November 2019.

The Project 23700 vessel is designed to ensure emergency rescue operations, as well as transportation and supply of small search and rescue vessels. It is capable of carrying four boats on board and accepting two helicopters on board. The vessel's displacement is 7,500 tons, length is 111 m, width is 24 m, speed is 22 knots, cruising range is 5,000 miles.
