A solemn ceremony of raising the national flag on the icebreaking vessel of the Aker ARC 130 project Alexander Sannikov took place in St. Petersburg today. Built at the Vyborg Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) by order of Gazprom Neft, the icebreaker will escort tankers from the Novoportovskoye field in the Northern Sea Route area.
A significant part of the equipment installed on the icebreaker Alexander Sannikov is Russian-made. The Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center in Severodvinsk has equipped the vessel with the most modern bow thruster. Domestic manufacturers have also provided the icebreaker with modern navigation equipment, a navigation bridge, generators, the most important elements that ensure the icebreaker's operation.
