The Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard today delivered the dry cargo vessel Pola Sofia to the shipping company Pola Rise — the third dry cargo ship of the RSD59 project. Currently, seven more dry cargo ships of this project are being built at two shipyards in Nizhny Novgorod and Shlisselburg.
The vessel design was developed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (Ukraine). The ship is intended for sea and mixed (river-sea) transportation of general and bulk cargoes, including metal, timber, coal, grain, as well as oversized and heavy cargoes. The dry cargo vessel has a long cargo hold measuring 77.3 meters for transporting oversized and heavy cargoes, and the ship's hull has the maximum possible dimensions for the Volga-Don Shipping Canal.
