Today, in the Leningrad region on Orekhovy Island at the source of the Neva River, the construction of a pier for cruise ships has begun.
The existing pier on the island can accommodate small vessels like "Moscow" or "Meteor." The new palafitte-type pier will be able to receive four-deck cruise ships, which currently pass the island without stopping. The investor for the construction of the new pier is the company "Kont," which has previously built several piers on the Neva, Volga, and Volkhov rivers. This is already the 3rd new pier for cruise ships to appear in the Leningrad region — currently, the construction of a pier in Svirsk is nearing completion, and at the end of last year, a pier was opened in Staraya Ladoga.
