Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant LLC (Leningrad Region) has started cutting metal for the lead cargo and passenger vessel of the PV22 project.

The PV22 project is an ARC 4 class cargo and passenger vessel with a passenger capacity of 146 people for transportation between the Kuril Islands and between Sakhalin Island and the Kuril Islands.
The vessel is equipped with cargo cranes with the ability to carry out cargo operations on an unequipped shore.

The new PV22 project concept has improved ice penetration, as it was built on the basis of the MPSV07 Arctic rescuer, and improved maneuverability compared to existing vessels. The volume of the hold is 895 cubic meters (against 208-215 cubic meters on existing ships). The vessel has the ability to transport 24 containers (including 8 refrigerated ones); transportation of 6 passenger cars.
