ULKT Welcomes Second Call of the Chinese Container Ship Newnew Star 2

Ust-Luga Container Terminal (ULKT), part of the stevedoring holding "Global Ports", a subsidiary of the "Delo" Group, has welcomed the second call of the container vessel Newnew Star 2 of the Chinese shipping company Hainan Yangpu Newnew Shipping Company. The press service of the holding reported this on November 28.

It is noted that ULKT successfully loaded 500 40-foot containers with export products from the Russian timber industry, including plywood, veneer, and lumber. The vessel will proceed to the discharge port of Alexandria, followed by calls to the Chinese ports of Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Nansha (Guangzhou).

Newnew Star 2 is a vessel with a length of 231 m and a width of 32.3 m, capable of carrying up to 3,400 TEU containers. Prior to calling at ULKT, the vessel was partially loaded at the Big Port of St. Petersburg, but due to depth restrictions in the Sea Channel, it proceeded to ULKT for further loading.

Container transshipment operations at ULKT resumed in spring 2024 as part of the intensive recovery of container throughput in the Russian Baltic and the development of direct sea services between St. Petersburg and ports in the Asia-Pacific region.
