On January 27, the world’s largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, set sail on its first commercial voyage from the port of Miami. The seven-day itinerary takes passengers through picturesque tropical regions, offering a unique travel experience.
The ship's christening ceremony was attended by famous footballer Lionel Messi, who became a prominent figure at the event.
The ship was built by the Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku for Royal Caribbean International and was handed over to the customer in November 2023. This giant, measuring 365 meters in length, can accommodate up to 7,600 passengers, with a crew of 2,350 people.
The vessel is equipped with a number of eco-friendly technologies, including a LNG power system, fuel cells, heat recovery systems, and air lubrication for the hull, significantly reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable travel.
The construction cost of the ship was approximately $2 billion, underscoring its status as one of the most modern and luxurious ships in the world.
