The Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku has delivered the world's largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, to the American company Royal Caribbean International. The shipyard announced the delivery on November 28. This vessel, with a length of 365 meters, now holds the title of the largest cruise ship in the world.
"Icon of the Seas is not only the largest but also the most advanced cruise ship ever built," said Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku.
The ship can accommodate up to 7,600 passengers, with a crew of 2,350 people. The vessel is equipped with modern ecological solutions, including a liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant, fuel cells, heat recovery systems, and an air lubrication system for the hull, all aimed at minimizing its environmental impact.
