The technology group Wartsila has secured a contract to supply marine engines for two luxury sailing cruise yachts. The Wartsila 25DF dual-fuel engines, capable of running on both LNG (liquefied natural gas) and diesel fuel, will be installed on vessels being constructed at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France for Orient Express Silenseas, part of the Accor Group. The announcement was made on October 5th by the company's press service.
The contract, signed in May 2023, also includes an option to supply engines for two additional vessels. Equipment deliveries to the shipyard are expected to begin in the fall of 2024. Each yacht will have a length of 220 meters and will accommodate up to 116 passengers. The first vessel has already been named "Orient Express Silenseas."
The project is focused on creating unique cruise yachts for the most discerning clients, combining luxury, technological innovation, and environmental standards. Wartsila’s powerful dual-fuel engines will ensure the yachts offer high performance and energy efficiency, meeting the latest requirements of the maritime industry.
