At the exhibition of the XI International Maritime Defence Show (IMDS-2023), the "Armalit" machine-building plant presented the shipboard volumetric fire extinguishing system (KSOП). This was reported by a correspondent from Sudostroenie.info at the event.
The system was manufactured at the production facilities of JSC "Armalit," with the design developed by the Saint Petersburg Marine Engineering Bureau "Malakhit" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC).
As a representative of "Armalit" told Sudostroenie.info, the KSOП is designed for extinguishing fires in internal compartments at any stage of their development. The extinguishing agent used is the non-toxic halon 227ca, which is supplied to the emergency space by displacing air. Among other components, the system includes specialized manual fittings and specialized remotely controlled fittings with a position signaling node.
Currently, the KSOП is being supplied for military contracts, and licensing is underway for its use in civilian applications.
For reference, JSC "Armalit" has been a supplier of fittings for KSOП units since 2014. In 2021, a section for fire suppression systems was set up at the engineering plant.
