Fesco Group, a leading logistics and transport company, has announced plans to establish a major transport hub in the Republic of Tatarstan. This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the "Far Eastern Shipping Company" (the parent company of Fesco), Andrey Severilov, during his speech at the Transtec 2022 international forum held on November 29. The information was provided by the forum's press service.
"We have signed a memorandum of intent with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and are moving forward with the creation of a regional transport hub. The uniqueness of this project lies in its ability to integrate both rail and river transport. We are exploring options to gather cargo from various regions of the country and transport it along the Volga River to the Caspian Sea, which will enhance connectivity with the International Transport Corridor 'North – South,'" said Andrey Severilov.
He also emphasized that in order to successfully implement these plans, significant expansion of the fleet is necessary, including the addition of "river-sea" class vessels capable of operating under various conditions. Additionally, developing the infrastructure in the Caspian Sea is a crucial step for efficient cargo handling and strengthening the region's position as a key logistics hub.
