On September 18, the first expedition of the ice-resistant self-propelled platform (LSP) "Severny Polyus" began in Murmansk. This was announced by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources.
The Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, Alexander Kozlov, wished the polar explorers good fortune in their scientific endeavors and research.
On September 15, a ceremonial start of the "Severny Polyus-41" expedition was held in Murmansk. A team of scientists and polar explorers from the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) boarded the LSP for the first time to prepare for the voyage.
It is worth noting that the contract between the Admiralty Shipyards (AO "Admiralteiskie Verfi") and Rosgidromet for the construction of the LSP was signed in April 2018. The vessel was laid down on April 10, 2019, and the Russian state flag was raised on the platform on September 2, 2022.
