ZIO-Podolsk Manufactures Reactor Equipment for Icebreakers Yakutia and Chukotka

Podolsk, April 2025 — ZIO-Podolsk, a machine-building company and part of Atomenergomash (Rosatom’s mechanical engineering division), has successfully completed the manufacturing of key components for the RITM-200 reactor units destined for the nuclear-powered icebreakers Yakutia and Chukotka.

The shipment includes:

• 4 hydroaccumulators
• 4 hydroaccumulator tanks
• 4 pressurizers
• 4 emergency water supply tanks

The pressurizers are notable for their dimensions and design: each unit weighs 9.8 tonnes, stands 5.5 meters tall, and has a diameter of 1.4 meters. These components are engineered to meet stringent safety and operational standards required for Arctic environments.

Hydroaccumulators, which form a critical part of the reactor’s primary circuit, serve the following functions:

• Storing and supplying reserve water to the reactor core
• Maintaining system pressure using a gas cushion

The equipment has been manufactured on schedule and is now ready for shipment to the installation site.
