B.E. Butoma Shipyard Launches Medical Oxygen Production Project

Kerch, April 2025 — The B.E. Butoma Shipbuilding Plant (also known as the Zaliv Shipyard) has announced the large-scale modernization of its on-site oxygen station to establish high-purity medical oxygen production. This initiative aims to meet the growing regional demand for critical medical resources in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Once modernization is complete, the facility will be capable of producing medical-grade oxygen with a purity level ranging from 99.5% to 99.9%, fully compliant with healthcare standards. The plant previously operated the only oxygen station on the peninsula until 2005.

Ongoing preparations include:

• Procurement of advanced quality control equipment
• Development of a technical plan for laboratory modernization
• Documentation according to GMP requirements
• Preparation of materials for licensing by the Ministry of Industry and Trade

This project not only strengthens regional healthcare infrastructure but also expands the shipyard's industrial capabilities beyond its traditional shipbuilding activities.
