The nuclear icebreaker Arctic has reached the North Pole

On October 3, 2020, at 18:00, the lead universal nuclear icebreaker of the 22220 Arctic project reached the North Pole of the Earth. This was reported in the press service of the Baltic Plant.

During the two-week passage from St. Petersburg to Murmansk, the specialists of the construction plant and the customer check the operation of the vessel in ice conditions. Having reached the North Pole, the nuclear-powered vessel completed the "maximum program," the shipyard said in a statement.

The laying of the head icebreaker of the 22220 Arctic project took place in November 2013, and the launch took place in June 2016. The icebreaker Arktika left St. Petersburg for ice trials on September 22. The signing of the acceptance certificate for the lead icebreaker of Project 22220 is expected upon arrival in Murmansk.
